Rippon Central Otago Pinot Noir 2006
Country: New Zealand Region: Central Otago Varietal: Pinot Noir
Among the pioneers of Central Otago winemaking, Lois and the late Rolfe Mills first planted vines on their schist-soiled Wanaka farm in 1982. This wine was made from hand picked fruit, wild yeast fermented and bottled without fining or filtration. The wine shows vibrant and pure red and black cherry aromas, with a little supporting oak. The silky palate has dark cherry, spice and oak characters in great balance. Very drinkable now, it should cellar for a further 5-7 years. |

Hints of mineral and flint gently sweep over aromas of citrus flower and lime. The rich texture is the first overwhelming impression, with apricot emerging over the lime and floral characters. Although sweet, the bright acidity leads to a clean and persistent finish. |
